GLENN PONAS - President and COO

Glenn Ponas has two decades of experience as a professional educator, technologist, researcher, consultant, and policy advisor. He has a Masters Degree in Mathematics Education and is currently completing his Doctorate in Administrative and Policy Studies at the University of Pittsburgh. His research agenda reflects his core belief that meaningful positive change in individual student achievement can be achieved by using data in ways that inform the art and practice of teaching. Glenn has infused his research, practice, and beliefs into his teaching at the University and K-12 level. At the national level, Glenn served as a peer reviewer for the $58 million US Department of Education's (USDOE) Statewide Longitudinal Data Systems Grant award. He has also served on the USDOE Review Team for the National Center for Educational Statistics (NCES) Non Fiscal Data Handbook. His recent presentations include the National School Boards Association, ESRI International Users Conference, Council of the Great City Schools, NCES Management Information Systems and Summer Data Conferences, Hewlett Packard Public Sector Executive Summit, and the Consortium of School Networks. Glenn's recent publications include papers at the ESRI International User Conference. On the state level, Glenn serves on the PDE Pennsylvania Information Management System Advisory Board, and has helped PDE map Pennsylvania's strategic vision for longitudinal educational data. He was an educational data expert on the joint Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE)/VISC Data Dictionary and Metadata Facility project. At the regional level, Glenn was Project Manager for the Regional Educational Data Aggregator (REDA) Project. Funded by the regional foundation community, REDA was designed to link multiple districts into a common data warehouse and to provide district stakeholders with access to leading-edge data analysis applications. In the Pittsburgh Public Schools (PPS) Glenn was the Coordinator of Instructional Technology, charged with the management of $4 million in technology infusion for the district's 92 schools. He led the district's $2.1 million technology initiatives for the nationally-renowned Pittsburgh Creative and Performing Arts High School. He was also Program Manager for Strategic Data Initiatives, where he led a joint PPS/University of Pittsburgh Visual Information Systems Center (VISC) team in the development of next-generation visualization analysis solutions and metadata facility development
